We all love a good pair of falsies to accompany any and all of our makeup looks. From natural to dramatic lashes, there is always a perfect pair for every occasion! But how do we get these lashes to fit seamlessly into our eyes? Well, we will try to guide you in the easiest way possible but, remember, practice makes perfect!
There are many tips and tricks for achieving the perfect eyelash application.
Here I will go over a few.
The first step is completely optional, and i don’t even know if this is the first step or the last. It depends on your preference and experience level with applying falsies. You can start (or end by) curling your natural eyelashes and applying mascara before you put the falsies on. I have seen girls who would rather wait until the falsies are on to apply the mascara and then press the falsies with their natural lashes to hide the small separation between the falsies band and their actual lash line. But, you would have to clean your lashes more carefully if you apply mascara directly to them. Once again is up to you and how comfortable you feel. There is no wrong game in the falsie game!
The next step is to carefully remove the false eyelash strip from the plastic container they come in. Make sure to pull from the falsie cotton or clear band and not from the lash hairs as this can damage your falsie. We recommend using tweezers to remove the lashes from the plastic tray.
Once you have carefully removed the falsie from the tray, it’s time to measure the falsie and make sure it fits perfectly to your eye length. You want to do this by placing the falsie on top of your natural lash line and make sure it fits. If the lash is too long, you want to trim it to fit your eye perfectly. Important points to make at this step: 1. We recommend trimming your falsie from the outer corner this will help retain the shape and style of your falsie. We also recommend that you measure carefully and trim enough (if necessary) so that you don’t feel uncomfortable during the day (or night ;) ) and the lash is not poking your eye inner corner.
After measuring and trimming,, apply a thin line of glue in the falsie band. We recommend adding a little more to both the inner and outer corner of your lash band since those are the areas that need a little extra support because they are the most common to come unglue. Now the next step is what can make or break your perfect and easy application!! After applying the glue, LET IT GET TACKY OR STICKY so that once you place your lash on your actual lash line, it doesn’t move around and make it hard to place. It depends on the lash glue you are using how long to wait before actually applying the lash. It can be anywhere from 5 seconds (for really fast drying glues) to 45 seconds. If you use the white glue (which dries clear so don’t worry) then you should be able to tell when it’s drying because it will start clearing. While you are waiting for the glue to get tacky, you can start bending the lash band to achieve that curled band for an easier application. It will simulate the shape of your eye therefore allowing for a simpler application.
Okay, finally the moment of the truth has arrived. Once the glue is tacky, carefully place the falsie on your natural lash line. We recommend looking down as you “drop” the falsie as close as possible to your natural lash line and placing the middle part first and then pulling on the outer and inner corners and holding for a few seconds until you are sure they aren’t going anywhere! We like to use tweezers for this step and our fingers :) after placing the lash with the tweezers, we like to go back with our fingers and just push the lash kind of upwards from the outer and inner corner to make sure it sticks! There you go….
You now have beautiful falsies to compliment whatever look your are rocking! After you are done, you have the option of applying the mascara or eyeliner (if you haven’t done so already) like we mentioned at the beginning of this tutorial to make sure there are no lose ends! Follow these steps, and you’ll have everyone wondering if those are your real lashes!
Remember, if you don’t get it right the first time, don’t worry..we didn’t either! Practice makes perfect! So practice practice until you are the falsie pro!
